Many years ago I participated in a triathalon. Believe it or not it was a run, bike, canoe. I actually participated in the canoe portion of the race. Some years later I was the last leg of a distance race in Upstate New York. On Sunday, September 13, I ran my first official triathalon – the Nations Triathalon in Washington, DC. To say I was nervous was an understatement. My swimmer was my company’s CFO and our biker was my husband. I was worried sick that my husband would have trouble – especially since he had never been in a race before. The good news was that he was in shape and at least he had covered the distance. I was more worried that he would have a technical issue like a flat tire.
Needless to say we all did well. My husband finished his part of the race 15 minutes faster than we anticipated. That was a great thing to see, and Mark was so proud of himself.
The whole process of operating asĀ a team was a fun one. It is stressful to be the last leg of any race – I had to wait 6 hours before I ran, but so did the rest of us. We were so excited to know our co-ed team came in the top 28 of the co-ed teams in a time just over 3 hours.
It was a great effort, and so good to compete with a co-worker and my husband.
May you run strong!
